Objectives & Functions of the International Youth Steering Committee of the 7th APCRSHR:
To assist the screening of the international youth scholars and delegates of the conference;
To empower young people from both developing and developed countries to be effective advocates at the conference;
To coordinate international delegates in their areas for their presentation at the Youth Cultural Night;
To screen youth speakers/presenters to the Youth and Main Conference;
To promote youth participation and inclusion of youth issues in the mainstream conference agenda, in media generated from the conference, and in ASRHR programs and policies in general;
To assist young people's organizations in their areas to set their virtual Youth Hubs that will be streamed online;
To propose key advocacy messages to be used by young people participating in the conference and contribute to the development of the main conference ‘Concluding Statement’;
To facilitate increase of young people’s understanding of ICPD PoA and MDGs;
To facilitate collaboration with the main organizing committee regarding ASRHR issues at the conference; and
To gain international and individual commitments which promote youth leadership and ASRHR.
Criteria for the international youth committee members:
The members of the youth committee should meet the following criteria:
From a country in the Asia-
Fluency in English;
Aged 16 – 24;
Frequent internet access (at least 4 days per week);
Ability to attend monthly online-
Commitment to a rights-
Skills and/or organizational capacity that is relevant to the committee;
Where applicable, permission from the organization you work with to contribute your time (approx 2-
Motivation, creativeness, flexibility, and reliability.
